Many in the Queens College community are essential workers. Recent graduate Timothy So (English 2018), has been working on the frontlines as an Emergency Medical Technician since the pandemic first hit New York. He joins Jason Tougaw to talk about his experience working on two dedicated COVID-19 task forces, the daily routines of an EMT, and the very human encounters his work entails. So offers his insider perspective on the pandemic—including the struggle to get proper personal protective equipment (PPEs), the personal tragedies he’s witnessed, the overcrowded hospitals, and the rewards of helping fellow New Yorkers in distress.
