Telling Stories

October 8, 2021 @ 12:15 pm - 1:30 pm

People tell stories whenever they relay a sequence of causally-related events.  Generating and relaying stories is an important facet of content creation.  Recounting funny anecdotes, telling a history, explaining how a task or issue, or replaying the details of a clever heist are all examples of producing stories.  People who are good at constructing stories have an advantage in the field of podcasting.

In this discussion, we sit down with Queens Podcast Lab co-Director Jason Tougaw, who is also a Professor of English at Queens College, an expert on storytelling, and author of Elusive Brain: Literary Experiments in Age of Neuroscience.  We discuss storytelling, the construction of narrative, choices when developing stories, and his views on what it takes to be good at the craft of story development.
